The tourist village of El Valle will be “dry"  for the next 15 days to prevent the spread and increase of Covid-19 cases So far there are 37 active cases in the community, according to health authorities.

The measure took effect on Tuesday, September 1, and the Mayor’s decree prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages in open and closed premises and consumption in public areas.

The municipal rule sets a penalty of $1,000 for the owner of an  establishment caught committing the offense, in addition to  the temporary  closing  of the premises which  could also face permanent closure

Consumers disobeying the decree, face a fine ranging from $50 to $500 and the confiscation of any alcoholic beverages found.

In addition to the temporary prohibition law from Monday to Sunday, the Mayor's Office said that it will enforce the established curfew from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am.

DON'T twist it around to fit your rage verypanama, I could care less if the man rode a bus or drove for that matter, you can't see the forest for the trees in front of you? my meaning was the man has the virus and because he was drunk could care less if he harmed others to the point that he got a public bus and rode down the road. no one is belittling a person if they can't afford a car, dip sht

The locals have poor judgement whether they drink or not, hence why they have been so poor for100 years.

Panama has become the land of snitches! Everybody watching their neighbor and calling cops to turn in anyone perceived to violate the plandemic rules. This shift in the society here with people reporting to the state on the actions of their fellow citizens, coupled with a new police force that have become accustomed to doing what they want with no checks or balances is very disturbing. Anyone who thinks Panama is going back to the way things used to be are deluding themselves. The New Normal is here to stay!

Gotcha. So legislate what (these) people can spend their money on and shame them for taking public transportation instead of drinking and driving.

There are two reasons to stop the sale of booze, one these people need to spend what little money they have on food products, not booze, and 2nd. if you allow these people to drink they can't have one or two they have to get fall down drunk and when they are that way they go out and do whatever they want. one that was a active case was caught drunk on a bus.

I would like to see the science that says drinking a cocktail will infect you with the virus. Panama what a miserable police state!
