Energy Operation in Panama is in Doubt after Two Major Blackouts
The two events affected the electricity supply last Monday: the first originated from a trip at the Cobre Panamá thermoelectric plant, and the second from an incident on the Etesa transmission line, attributed to weather conditions.
The two power outages recorded last Monday have once again generated concern among Panamanians, after they affected the energy supply to thousands of consumers in different areas of the country. Hours later, a second incident occurred in Etesa’s transmission network, increasing doubts about the stability of the service, as it affected the Chilibre water treatment plant.
