New expat social group off to a lively start

CanadaPLUS,  Panama’s new  bouncy social group, linking expats and the local community, got off to a swinging start at the Roma Antica restaurant on the Twelfth (and last) Day of Christmas January 6.
Over 100 potential members, from Canada, the U.S., Australia, Britain and Europe, and their guests turned up for wine and cheese, and to dine on  three specially priced menus.

Over 70  participants became founding members of the club where PLUS means all inclusive.. An additional 20 members unable to attend the function, including people living in Canada, the United States and Europe, were also enrolled. They will all be counted as founding members with a lifetime membership, which includes a discount card for use in selected businesses and restaurants in Panama.

Other English speaking potential members will be eligible for founding membership if they register before January 29. And will be able to attend the next function, the Year of the Rabbit (Chinese New Year) at the Madam Chang 

Restaurant at a special member price.

More information on the Year of the Rabbit festival coming soon, but tickets are limited. Non members can purchase tickets at the restaurant for $35 per person. The three course menu includes a glass of wine, and a cup of the world 

famed Geisha coffee, which sells at over $15 a cup in Canada and as high as $40 in other countries. There will also be New Year surprises for all members. Sounds like a bargain evening to me.

Down the line there will be a Lake Gatun exploration cruise and lunch and, on April 29. a Royal Wedding Champagne Extravaganza, complete with wedding cake and entertainment marking the televised Westminster Abbey wedding of ……..? {jathumbnail off}
If you don’t know the answer yet, you will soon be bombarded with information on TV, on line, on the radio and in the print media.
