Haiti flag balloons kick off student program

PANAMA CITY–The Wyndham Veneto Hotel hosted a Saturday barbecue April 24 for University of Louisville political science students, as a curtain raiser to the ‘ May 7 United For Haiti hemispheric educational conference. 

Checking in: Francesca Arazola, Haiti delegation and  Ricardo Cam, Cuban delegationThe students raised additional money for Haitian relief, and were joined by faculty members, family, friends, sponsoring members from the Club Kiwanis Canal de Panama, and representatives of the United Nations and Unicef.
Included was a balloon release at dusk over the city, using the colors of the flag of Haiti, in conjunction with a music video produced by Digicel corporation, another event sponsor.
The May 7 conference is open to the public and at the Veneto Hotel ballroom from 1-5pm.
