On Tuesday, July 20, he asked the the National Assembly to reconsider the federal government’s decision to take over the agencies that regulate billboards in the metro area and collect garbage.

He was recently asked to share power with an oversight committee that would examine the way his office is being operated.

To cope with that he fired his management team and promised a new team in two weeks. When the two week deadline passed he said he was still studying resumés.

Vallarino said  that the Assembly should respect the autonomy of the city, adding that removing those agencies from the control of the municipality would greatly impact its finances.

Municipal waste agency Dimaud is millions of dollars in debt, and the federal government decided to take over the agency because of the way it was being managed by the city. The Ministry of Public Works is petitioning to take over the agency because of problems perhaps   including the billboard” on Avenida Balboa which has raised the ire of so many citizens and the sprouting of  a potential forest of illuminated signs on calle 50 and elsewhere.
