Bosco seeking advice from Mayor of Medellin

Panama’ s beleaguered Mayor, Bosco Ricardo Vallarino, left town on Friday (October 15) to travel to Medellin, Colombia.

The mayor who has stumbled from problem to problem since taking office in July 2009, yesterday, said in a press release, issued at the time of his departure that he is going to learn about the policies implemented in Medellin in the areas of social planning, mobility, coexistence, openness, recreation, and sports.
There was no mention of garbage collection which has been an ongoing problem and has had the mayor in face offs with the government and a threatened criminal denunciation by council members.
The trip was to include a meeting with the mayor of Medellín, Alonso Salazar and a local television station
With this visit Vallarino seeks to "conclude an information-sharing process that provides measures for enhancing the development prospects of both cities," said the press
Vallarino is also scheduled to meet with management of the participatory budget program and the secretariats of social welfare, public works, assessment and control, and the communications department of the mayor’s office of Medellín.
