Kids hospital is on the sick list

Not only children are sick at the Hospital del Nino in Panama. The building that houses them is on the endangered list.

An evaluation of the 62-year-old structure by the GSA group is underway and will be completed in two months.
Alberto Bissot, director of the medical center, said preliminary studies are already being analyzed.
He said that the company must determine if the center can support remodeling or whether it will have to be vacated due to deterioration of the structure.
The hospital’s board has diagnosed the hospital building as "sick".
This week the cabinet agreed to cede to the hospital the plot where the former US embassy once stood.
A fund raising campaign to pay for a new building, estimated to cost about $150 million is already underway with the backing of community groups like Rotary and the Lions Club.
