Panama city suffers water shut down
THOUSANDS of HOMES IN Panama City were to be without water after 6 pm for six to eight hours on Wednesday September 25.
The Water and Sewers Authority ( Idaan ) made a late afternoon announcement, so many workers returning home in the early evening would be unaware of the shutdown.
The suspension of service was due to electrical damage in the Chilibre treatment plant , said Idaan director , Abdiel Cano.
Cano explained that crews from both Idaan and the Panama Canal Authority worked to fix the damage and restore water service .
He said that after the resumption of production at the plant, 10 pumps would send water to the city but "In the high points the arrival of water might be slightly delayed.”
Tank trucks were used to distribute supplyto hospitals located in the metropolitan area.
