Panama Democratic processes at high risk ex-Judge
FORMER Supreme Court judge Emeralda Troitiño said Wednesday, October 16, that the democratic processes of Panama are at high risk.
Speaking on the program Sin Rodeo she said that: "there is a lack of democratic institutions [ that ] are the foundations of democratic life , and what guarantee people the governing process but also governance" .
She explained that by "governing" citizens give the government the tools , facilities for the Government to develop its social policies , programs and so on. , While through the process of "governance" the government opens spaces to the citizens to participate in the formulation of the development of programs, policies, etc. “And that today is at high risk” she said.
Troitiño said it is questionable that the principle of independence of the three branches of government in the country exists and that although the presidential system provides extreme power, the criterion set out means I must be thought out, with the responsibility and readiness to be rendered as mandated by the Constitution.
