Flood warning eased, evacuation, on standby
THE LEVEL of the Sixaola River, which runs along the border between Bocas del Toro and Costa Rica, has dropped below flood stage said Panama’s Civil defense agency (Sinaproc) on Twitter on Sunday night, June 28, but a green alert has been issued by medical facilities in the area.
The river was in danger of flooding due to heavy rains in the area throughout the weekend.
Although the risk of flooding is low, Sinaproc Director José Donderis said the river will continue to be monitored and that evacuations will be carried out if necessary.
