Cortizo Japan bound for Emperor’s enthronement
President, Laurentino Cortizo, and his wife, Yazmín Colón de Cortizo left Panama on a commercial flight to Tokyo on Saturday, October 19 to participate in the enthronement ceremony of Naruhito, as the new emperor of Japan.
The occasion will be used by Cortizo and the accompanying delegation to hold bilateral meetings to attract investment and other benefits. Japan is one of the main users of the Panama Canal.
The official events are scheduled for October 22 and the heads of state and royalty from some 190 countries are expected to attend.. Some 2,500 guests have been invited to the enthronement ceremony.
The president will return to Panama on October 25.
