Second Savings Bank robbery in two weeks
The branch in El Ingenio, Betania, of the Caja de Ahorros (CA) was robbed on Monday, October 10 but so far it has not been reported how much was taken, although it is known that they did not enter the vault of the bank.
The bank reported that there are no injured clients or workers and that it is collaborating with the authorities to find those responsible.
“We are verifying the protocols and the alert time that is given and we are going to make recommendations,” said the deputy director of the National Police, Simón Henríquez, who arrived at the scene.
Juan Melillo, people from the CA, said that the protocols were followed, “the panic button was pressed immediately”, but the assailants were well “organized”, so they managed to escape, with some “bags”. They did not enter the vault.
He added that agents of the National Police will guard the 61 branches of the bank, starting this Tuesday, October 11.
This is the second robbery at the Caja de Ahorros in less than two weeks. On September 27, the same thing happened at the Villa Lucre branch, San Miguelito district when they took $39,633.
