Panama National Police Recapture Fugitive Edwin González Córdoba from La Joyita

The arrest took place in the Loma Cobá sector, Arraiján district, during a search and verification operation carried out by police units, who managed to locate the citizen wanted by the authorities.  Following his capture, González Córdoba was placed at the disposal of the competent authorities for the corresponding procedures and his return to the penitentiary system.  The National Police reiterated that it maintains permanent operations to locate and recapture people wanted by the justice system, with the aim of strengthening citizen security.

The National Police reported the recapture of Edwin González Córdoba, who had been a fugitive from the La Joyita penitentiary.

Edwin González Córdoba was located by the National Police in a residence located in the Loma Cová sector, Arraiján district, Panama Oeste. It had been a month and a half since he escaped from La Joyita prison along with 195 other inmates on June 1, 2026. This Saturday, the National Police confirmed the recapture of Edwin González Córdoba, who was staying at a residence located in the Loma Cová sector, Arraiján district, Panama Oeste.  “The arrest occurred during a search and verification operation carried out by uniformed officers, who managed to locate and detain the citizen,” the National Police stated.  Following his capture, González Córdoba was placed at the disposal of the competent authorities for the corresponding procedures and his return to the penitentiary system.  A reward of $4,000 was offered for information leading to the whereabouts of this individual.
