The proposal to increase the retirement age responds, according to the Government, to the need to balance the finances of the pension system in Panama. The Executive’s formula is to increase the retirement age by three years for all men and women under 55 and 50 years old, respectively, and for all of them to migrate to a common fund, which is where the money to pay pensions would come from.
